Welcome to Sandnes Golfklubb
Bærheim Golfpark (owned by Golf Management AS) opened as an 18 hole course in August 2005.
Sandnes Golfklubb was registered as a sports club in the summer of 2004. It was recognised by Norges Golfforbund (Norwegian Golf Federation) in the spring of 2005. The number of members has grown rapidly and is continuing to grow.
As a sports club our organisation is based on voluntary work by our members. To drive the organisation onward we are dependant upon this voluntary effort. All of the club's excess income is used to the benefit of our members.
Bærheim Golfpark has, in a short period of time, become one of the best known courses in the district. With excellent greens and fairways and challenging rough, course management and concentration are required to play the course. The exceptionally good drainage means the course and the greens are playable all year round, except in frosty conditions. There are miles of drainpipes and over 400 drains around the course.
The course location is arguably the best in Norway and only a short distance from the centre of both Sandnes and Stavanger. The course is peaceful with beautiful, natural scenery.
Notes on this English Section of the website
The whole website has not been translated. The translated sections are those that are believed to be the most important as an introduction to our lovely course. There are other sections of the website that non Norwegian speakers can visit such as the slope table (slopetabeller), scorecard (scorekort), pictures (bilder) of the course etc. We hope these will provide you with the information you need. You are encouraged to talk to the friendly staff in the Proshop (all have a good knowledge of English).
To play the 18 hole course
Anyone with a valid handicap or green card (grøntkort) can play at Bærheim Golfpark. This assumes that the players are aware of and apply the etiquette of golf.
Players do not have to be members of Sandnes Golf Club to buy the annual Right to Play. Similarly, players can be a member of Sandnes Golf Club without buying the Right to Play.
However, it is important to recognise that players must be a member of a golf club to have a green card or handicap card issued. The Committee therefore encourages all of those that play regularly at Bærheim to be a member of Sandnes Golf Club.
We therefore wish you welcome as a member of Sandnes Golf Club.

Etiquette
- A dress code continues to be important in golf. Players shall not wear jeans, t-shirts or singlets. Shorts for both ladies and gentlemen shall not be shorter than knee length.
- Nobody shall move, talk or stand close to or directly behind a player or the hole while the player is addressing the ball or on the tee.
- The player with the "honour" shall be allowed to play his ball before his opponent or playing partners tee up their ball.
- Nobody shall strike their ball before those in front are out of range. Players should be aware of other players on parallel fairways.
- It is in everyone`s interest to play in such a way that others do not need to wait Players searching for a ball shall allow players in a following group to play through as soon as it becomes clear that the ball will not be easily found. There is no right to wait 5 minutes before waving the following group through. Once the following group have been waved through, the players must wait until this group are out of range. Similarly, if the hole in front is free of other players and the following group are waiting, they shall be waved through.
- When leaving a bunker, the sand must be raked smooth. The rake shall be left in the bunker.
- Divot marks shall be repaired by replacing the turf and treading it down. Pitch marks on the green must be repaired immediately, to avoid permanent damage to the putting surface.
- Players must avoid damage to the greens in the form of damage to the hole from removing/replacing the flag, careless use of clubs, bags and trailers. Avoid treading around the hole as much as possible.
- As soon as the players have holed out, they must leave the green. Updating of scores shall be completed away from the green.
- Golf trailers must never be drawn over the greens, between green bunkers and the green or through bunkers. Where signs indicate that trailers are not allowed, these must be respected.
Avoiding Slow Play (log jams)
In everyone`s interest, it is important that play goes smoothly around the course and that the total round does not significantly exceed 4 hours. Through good training, the course design and introduction of the electronic scorecard system, Bærheim Golfpark and Sandnes Golfklubb have done their best to ensure a smooth flow of play. The players can make their contribution by following these guidelines:
- Be ready to play when it is your turn.
- Go quickly to your ball.
- Mark where your ball and/or another players ball goes into the rough.
- Should you need to walk from your bag to play a shot, always take the clubs you might need with you.
- Before putting, place your bag or trailer at the side of the green at the nearest point to the next tee.
- Repair pitch marks, clean your ball and prepare to putt while the others are putting as long as this does not disturb them.
- The first to hole out should pick up the flag and replace it in the hole as soon as the last to putt has holed out.
- When the last player has holed out, leave the green immediately. Fill out your scorecard or update the Golfscore system at the next tee while you are waiting for your turn to play.
- Use your "rear view mirror" to let others play through if they are waiting. It is your duty to keep in contact with the group in front.
- If a putt is given, pick up the ball immediately. If you cannot score points on any hole, pick up the ball.
